Notice of the introduction of accommodation tax in Hokkaido and Sapporo

Due to revisions to Hokkaido and Sapporo City ordinances , the following accommodation tax will be levied from April 1, 2026.
| Accommodation fee (per person per night, excluding tax) | tax rate |
| Less than 20,000 yen | 300 yen (Hokkaido 100 yen, Sapporo 200 yen) |
| 20,000 yen or more but less than 50,000 yen | 400 yen (Hokkaido 200 yen, Sapporo 200 yen) |
| 50,000 yen or more | 1,000 yen (Hokkaido 500 yen, Sapporo 500 yen) |
*Regardless of the reservation date, accommodation tax will be levied for stays from April 1, 2026 onwards.
